Japan has the highest percentage of elderly in the world, and in the history of humanity. In 2011 23% of Japan’s population were 65 or older.┬áIt’s no wonder that Japan has some of the leading institutes for the study of aging in the world!

Tohoku University is Japan’s top research institute that studies aging and maintaining health as long as possible. Their Brain Imaging Lab has provided the research for the highly successful Brain Age games, and reading aloud has been shown to benefit both the very old and very young.
